Why I Threw Away My Entire Skincare Routine + Started From Scratch

Ok let’s talk skincare – if you’re anything like me, you get sucked into all of the latest skincare trends. Serums, eye creams, moisturizers, you name it, I’ll try it (or would have prior to my recent discovery, but we’ll get to that later…) Let’s just say having sensitive skin isn’t the biggest advantage for someone who is obsessed with experimenting when it comes to skincare.

For the last probably six years of my life, I have tried SO many products it is insane – from budget friendly to ridiculously expensive and for some reason I always lean toward more expensive products because I do believe that skin is an investment worth investing in. Long story short, when it comes to skin, I’m all in and will splurge on the right products.

I frequent my esthetician’s office so often to the point that she is now one of my greatest friends, I eat super clean and I use great products, but I have always had little bumps under the surface which leads me to discuss the reason behind why I decided to ditch my current routine and start all over, from scratch!

At the beginning of quarantine, I was very into self -care and researching, because I mean we all suddenly had a lot of time on our hands. The internet, aka the black hole, led me to my greatest discovery – this website. Think of this website as essentially the ultimate dating platform of skincare, it shows you which products will go well with your skin type and which ones you need to ditch immediately.

This website is the reason I threw away 95% of the products I was using previously, that were the reason behind the tiny bumps under my skin, aka closed comedones - little bumps across the skin's surface. They're not red and inflamed like your typical pimple, and they don't hurt. A closed comedo (singular of comedones) develops when a plug of skin cells and oil becomes trapped within the hair follicle.

It turns out that the most expensive products aren’t always the best and it’s worth doing the research to find out which skincare is best for YOUR skin, not what your BFF is raving about cause chances are your skin is completely different. I recently came across the brand Face Reality and I am absolutely obsessed - perfect for sensitive skin. So, with all this being said, do yourself a favor and google your favorite skincare ingredients and prepare to be amazed – this magic website may reveal that your $100 moisturizer may not be worth the price tag!
